The dissertation examines both passive perception and active production of tone accents among adults and children from Arzbach (Westerwald), revealing a significant generational decline. Findings show that tonal accent distinction is strongly correlated with dialect competence. This research provides new insights for Germanic linguistics, dialectology, and phonological studies.
