This dissertation is a cumulative project consisting of two papers on pancreatic disease.
The first paper is an original patient initiated cross-sectional study of the support group Arbeitskreis der Pankreatektomierten e.V. (AdP). The authors built a medical database for the AdP and analyzed the results of the AdP members who had undergone pancreatic surgery. We found that following complex pancreatic surgery, patients are confronted with daily lifelong challenges including exocrine, endocrine and weight problems. Individuals affected by pancreatic disease could be an important but underutilized resource to studying these diseases.
The second paper is an interesting case reporting on an intrapancreatic accessory spleen which mimicked a neuroendocrine neoplasia on the 68Ga-DOTA-TOC-PET/CT.
