In recent years several international health care studies on the use of clozapine in the treatment of schizophrenia spectrum disorders have shown prescribing patterns that deviate from guideline recommendations. Delay of clozapine initiation as well as antipsychotic polypharmacotherapy was repeatedly reported.
The interval to initiation of clozapine therapy was surveyed and predictors of this interval were identified in this study. In addition, the rate of antipsychotic polypharmacy was recorded.
