Abstract

Progesterone receptor expression is frequently observed in human menigeomas. The function and the oncologic relevance of progesterone receptor expression is not known. Further it is not clear which signalling pathways are important for progesterone receptor expression. The expression of the progresterone receptor was correlated with the expression of erbB2 oncoprotein, the Jak - STAT signalling pathway and gynecological comormbidity. It was found, that high-grade meningeomas, such as atypical and anaplastic meningeomas, show less progesterone receptor and erbB2 expression than the low grade human meningeomas. Maybe progesterone receptor expression is more a feature of differentiation than tumor progression.
