Abstract

The texts from Šaduppûm (modern: Tell Harmal) allow an extended overview to economy and society in this region. The rediscovered corpus contains ca. 3000 inscripted slates from old babylonian time and consists of administrational documents, letters, school materials, lexical collection slates, incantations, enactments and literary texts (incl. Gilgames-epos)as well as geographical and mathematical materials. The school excercises (lens-shaped slates) give a wide survey over the scholar system and the activities of the writers at the School of Šaduppûm. The school scriptures contain personal names, the alphabet of syllables, lexical and mathematical units of measurement, and economical texts.
