Abstract

A series of organic salts comprising chlacogenolate based anions and yet inaccessible cation-anion combinations is described. Solid state structures as well as their properties in solution were investigated. Possible syntheses for the preparation of photovoltaic materials CIGS and CZTS by utilizing metalate complex salts Cat[M(ESiMe3)(n+1)] are discussed. These complexes have been realised for M = Ga, In, Zn, Sn, Cu, Ag, Au (Cat = organic cation). The solid state structures of these novel metalate salts are discussed just as their thermal decay and their spectroscopic properties.
