With the help of an retrospective study we explored the role of Fluoreszenz-in-situ-Hybridisation in Prenatal Diagnostics.
We had 958 cases, which were spread into 921 amnicentesis, 33 chorionic villus samplings and 3 fetal blood analysis and 1 punction of the pleura.
The study showed that the FISH-method ist valid to be used in Prenatal Diagnostics. There were no false-positiv cases and only 3 false-negative cases. All in all we had an sensitivity of 92% and a specivity of 100%.
We suggest to use FISH-testing in combination to conventional chromosome-testing.
