This cumulative dissertation consists of four manuscripts. In the first article, a method to gather data on sensitive characteristics is developed and the estimation for simple random sampling with replacement is presented. The second manuscript deals with the incorporation of prior information into the estimation. Sampling designs different from simple random sampling with replacement are considered in the third essay. The fourth manuscript provides methods to investigate the influence of nonsensitive covariates on a sensitive endogenous characteristic.
