Abstract

This study re-evaluates two tests that are used in the diagnostic of central auditory processing dirsorder. The Marburger Rhyme-Test is a recently developed, computerized method of testing that verifies the hearing gain trough binaural processing in noise. Uttenweiler´s Dichotic Discrimination Test was carried out with a modified test course and a newly developed way of assessment. Both tests were tested on a group of 48 normal-hearing, school-aged children and then compared with the test results of children already diagnosed with central auditory processing disorder. While no significant group differences could be found in the results of the Marburger Rhyme-Test, Uttenweiler´s dichotic discrimination test showed significant group differences and therefore could be confirmed as a useful and practicable test for the diagnosis of central auditory processing disorder in children.
