After the introduction of reforms in the economic sector by Deng Xiaoping in the end of the 1970s, a rapid economic development has taken place in the PR China. Although there are huge discrepancies between urban and rural areas and between provinces in general, it can be observed, that the situation has improved.
However, it is not sure whether the PR China will be able to stay on this path of sustainable economic development. In this context it shall not be proven whether the PR China will be successful in maintaining high growth rates or not. It shall rather be discussed what is necessary to achieve sustainable development. It will be shown that without innovation and innovative entrepreneurial activities the opportunities to achieve development are limited.
