Abstract

This study showed that a modified version of an endoscopic secretin-stimulated pancreatic function test could be established at the University Hospital Mar-burg. The best point in time to measure lipase activity was defined as well as the influence of dilution was shown. The test was well tolerated. To point out and proof the diagnostic validity - as well as to specify the reference range - this pancreatic function test must be done with patients suffering from chronic pancreatitis. This test can be useful in combination with other morphological tests like endoscopic ultrasonography concerning patients suffering from unclear abdominal pain to exclude chronic pancreatitis. Messenger RNA could be isolated from collected pancreatic juice. Whether the observed low quality of the isolated RNA is sufficient to measure the expression levels of certain indicator genes of pancreatic cancer, needs to be investigated in further studies.
