Abstract

Study about complications by endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) during 1989 to 1997 at the Center of cardiology in Marburg, Germany. Mainly, endomyocardial biopsy have been taken from the left ventricle. In other centers EMB mainly are taken from the right ventricle to control patients of transplanted heart. In Marburg specimes are necessary to examine the role of inflammatory process in the heart muscle disease. The study show that the procedure endomyocardial biopsy is a safe technique. Complications are rare. Potential risk factors cannot be found.
