Abstract

The surfactant system in the lung has many different functions. Studies with surfactant protein d deficient mice showed inflammatory and destructive alterations in the lung. Other studies showed in patient with COPD or cystic fibrosis or ARDS a surfactant homeostase that was destroyed and reduced levels of sp-d , so that our aim was do find out how the alveolarmorphology changes in cause of the sp-d knockout. For that reason we analysed the alveoarlmorpholgy with an electrone microscope.
