Abstract

To investigate a possible relation between the chronic periodontitis and the coronary heart disease, 232 patients with and without angiographic confirmed CHD were compared as regards their clinical periodontal status. As a result, the patients with a confirmed CHD (cases) had a poorer periodontal status than the patients in the control group. Further studies with longitudinal character are necessary to support the possible relation between these two diseases.
