Abstract

More and more people with so-called ‚intellectual disability' reach a higher age, but so far there is only very limited knowledge concerning the significance that aging has for them and how they deal with the processes of aging itself. Based on a reconstructive analysis of biographical-narrative interviews with older or old people with so-called 'intellectual disability', the author addresses these and many other questions in more detail. For instance: the effectiveness of care structures, the biographical relevance of the Stigma ‚intellectual disability', the role of the family of origin, experiences of loneliness as well as the significance of violence and critique.
