Hetero junction solar cells consisting of amorphous and crystalline silicon have been modelled, simulated, analyzed, and prepared.
A simulation tool (AFORS-HET)has been develloped for public use
(http://www.hmi.de/bereiche/SE/SE1/projects/aSicSi/AFORS-HET/index_en.html) within this work,
which numerically solves the semiconductor equations for heterojunctions.
Further, we optimized the Wafer pretreatment within this work and realized
together with Fernunuveritaet Hagen a heterojunction solar cell with a confirmed efficiency of 16.2%. This is, at least to our knowledge, the highest reported
efficiency of this type (a-Si:H(n)/c-Si(p)) of solar cell.
