Abstract

The main theme of this thesis was to connect the two major topics "Ionic Liquids (ILs)" and "complexes of conjugated 1,4-diazaligands" by testing new synthetic concepts within four loosely connected projects. Project I: Guanidinium methylcarbonates were established as powerful intermediates in the metal- and halide-free synthesis of guanidinium-based ILs. Project II: Diazabutadiene ligands bearing sulfonate tags and their transition metal complexes were studied in detail and were shown to be well immobilized in ILs. Project III: A sulfonate-tagged dipyridophenazine ligand was evaluated as starting material for Ru(II) complexes in the context of dye-sensitized solar cells. Project IV: Mo(0)-DAD-Tricarbonyl complexes were synthesized with a variety of neutral as well as anionic coligands. They were studied with respect to their structural and solvatochromic properties.
