Abstract
The dissertation study titled "Sportdidactical art of teaching - A Phenomenological-Praxeological Study on Task-Related Knowledge and Skills of Physical Education Teachers" investigates the complex interplay of teaching and learning through practices of task setting within the frame of sportdidactical art of teaching in physical education. The innovative research approach of the study combines phenomenological and praxeological methods to empirically capture both the implicit and explicit knowledge and skill structures of physical education teachers.
Theoretically, the work is based on Martin Wagenschein's didactics of teaching art. It aims to explain how "teaching for understanding" can be comprehended within the horizon of 'bildungstheoretical approaches' in physical education. In addition, the work draws on the fundamentals of pedagogical ethos in the teaching profession.
The goal of the empirical investigation is the most precise description and interpretation of the task-related actions of physical education teachers. Methodologically, this is achieved through the triangulation of a sociological knowledge approach with a phenomenological approach. While the sociological knowledge approach reconstructs the action-guiding orientations and habitus of the teachers, the phenomenological perspective focuses on the description of task-related practices of teaching and learning.
The empirical data collection was conducted through classroom videography and episodic-narrative interviews, whose analysis provided deep insights into the complex practice of task-setting and the related teaching and learning. The results of the study show that the art of teaching of physical education teachers is shaped not only by theoretical knowledge but significantly by teaching experiences and situational responsiveness, which is reflected in the various ways of task-related teaching and learning.
