Abstract

Taking in account that the Guarani language is one of the most authentic documents on the conflicts united among aborigens and agents of the European conquest, I have proposed to analyze the lexical writings for the Jesuit Antonio Ruiz de Montoya in the 17th century, in Guarani and Spanish. I seek to discover in them how the peoples Guarani were living and understanding their bodies in this epoch, specially in the erotic, sexual, reproductive area and in that of the personal development; how the missionaries and civilizers introduced in this area a new way of life and what appropriations and resignificances were done, of the Guarani side and of the Jesuitical side. The object of my research is so the indigenous body in the Jesuitical-Guarani speech. Precisely it is focused by the lamps of the anthropology, of the history and of the theology. On having located the Jesuitical record inside the missionary spirit, the determining ones and constraints of the epoch, I have tried to do the critique of the same one. In this exercise, the dialogue with the indigenous communities Guarani speakers today has been fundamental. The research has confirmed that the missionary record has not been only a warehouse (deposit) of what was said in the Indian peoples and of the forms as they were said in their language. It has been also a warehouse (deposit) of what had to be said in Guarani in the new context
