Abstract
Globalization is considered as one of the main challenges today. The increasing dynamic of international integration of economy affects national as well as local structures and developments. In particular the process of economic globalization assigns economy and policy new tasks. Agglomerations as places of concentration of economy, population and functions are increasingly exposed to the global-economic influences. But the process of globalization doesn’t affect “passive places”, the process itself is influenced by local conditions and actors. Issue of the analysis is the result of this coaction of global processes and local conditions. On the basis of the spatial dispersion of international companies the importance of globalization process for the development of the agglomeration Frankfurt/Main has been analysed. For this purpose basic questions have been researched: how is the spatial differentiation of economic globalization within the agglomeration and which consequences appear? Which are the influencing factors for the development on the local level and how important are local policy and planning in this process?
