Depressive disorders in teachers is an important issue because they often lead to teacher´s absence in schools. The associations between affective disorders, effort-reward-imbalance and self-appreciation are in the center of interest in these studies. First, a reliable and consistent scale messuring self-appreciation, could be developed. Second, regressionanalyses support the assumption of an effect of self-appreciation included in the effort-reward imbalance model on depressive symptomatology. Further investigation is recommended in order tu strengthen the importance of self-appreciation and cultivating the health of teachers.
