The histologic appearance of follicular thyroid adenoma and carcinoma is of great similarity - which makes differential diagnosis even critical in terms of histopathology. The present study takes a so far not mentioned number of cases and parameters of AgNOR-analysis and morphometry combined into consideration and offers hence a decent tool of differentiation which migth save some patients from riskful re-operation.
