Abstract

According to our data MR-defecography is an equivalent method for measuring anorectal angle and pelvic floor position during rest and strain compared to conventional standard defecography. We found good correlation between those parameter. When evaluating different groups with risc factors for pelvic floor insufficiency and patients with several symptoms, MR Imaging seems to at least equal to detect pathomorphological changes in anorectal angle and pelvic floor position in different populations with different symptoms like feeling of incomplete evacuation, constipation, fecal incontinence, diarrhea and risc factors like hysterectomy and vaginal delivery. MR-Imaging seem to be a reliable method for measuring anorectal angle and pelvic floor position without any x-rays and an opportunity to visualize all three compartments of the pelvic floor by only one imaging.
