Abstract

This work further explored and expanded the chemistry of organo-functionalized tinchalcogenide clusters of the general composition [(RfSn)xEy] (E = S, Se; Rf = organic moiety with functional group). The main focus was put on the formation of binary and ternary metalchalcogenide complexes that are decorated with functional organic ligands, expanding the so far known pool of organic rests (R = COOH, C(O)Me, CN) as outlined in the following. According to the plan of the project, the investigated organic ligands should bear the potential to inter- or intramolecularly link cluster units to result in organic-inorganic hybrid compounds. Therefore, a direct connection of suitable molecules to the tin atom of the Sn/S clusters (usually introduced into the cluster precursor RfSnCl3), or extension of existing ligands spheres to form modified clusters [(Rf’Sn)4S6] was targeted.
