Abstract
Schools are complex social systems in which a wide variety of challenges can arise on an ongo-ing basis (Karutz et al., 2022). In addition to everyday pedagogical and organizational tasks, teachers can also be confronted with extraordinary situations that require special skills. These include acute emergencies, interpersonal conflicts or longer-term crises (such as pandemics or natural disasters), which can have a significant impact on a school community.
The aim of this work is to develop a scientifically sound systematization of the development of professional crisis skills and to derive practice-oriented measures to promote resilience among teachers. The research is based on a mixed-methods design: following a theoretical foundation and hypothesis formation, theory-based survey instruments were developed. This was followed by a needs analysis using qualitative expert interviews and quantitative online surveys. The re-sulting data was evaluated, discussed and then merged into a training concept (SKK-L).
By means of an iterative revision and validation of the SKK-L training concept through an ex-pert rating, the scientific foundation and practical relevance of the concept can be ensured.
The first key result was the development of a valid and reliable screening instrument (SKK-L) to record school crisis skills and strategies for coping with stress for pre-service teachers (LiV). In addition, the training concept SKK-L (Schulische Krisenkompetenzen von Lehrkräften) was designed, which can serve as a practical guide for various actors in the education system, such as trainers at study semesters or school psychologists, for the further development of existing training structures.
The research findings are intended to contribute to the professionalization of teachers in dealing with challenging school emergencies and crises and at the same time provide impetus for strengthening the resilience of teachers and the education system.
