es als Rhematisierer. Zur Rolle des ‘Vorfeld-es’ aus funktionaler Satzperspektive

Abstract

This dissertation investigates the function and teaching of the rhematic “es” in German within the framework of theme–rheme structure. An intervention study demonstrates that targeted instruction leads to a significant improvement in coherence, text organization, and the correct use of “es” in learner texts. The findings highlight the relevance of information-structural approaches for teaching German as a foreign language and address a gap in existing teaching materials.
