The dissertation examined life and work of a second generation pharmaceutical historian. Shown are Danns way of life, his career as a historian of pharmacy, his teaching as a lecturer at the University of Kiel, the scientific work of pharmaceutical historian as well as a reception history. In addition, Danns undergo extensive working as President of the International Society of the history of pharmacy, and his work as an editor. An attempt to describe the personality of Dann, as well as his relationship with colleagues, complement the study.
