Abstract

Translation means interpretation. According to Gadamer, every translator interprets the text during the translational process. How this inevitable interpretation works especially in the case of bible translation is the topic of this dissertation. It is discussed on the basis of the case of the "Wertheim Bible", a translation of the Pentateuch, which was composed by Johann Lorenz Schmidt and published anonymously in 1735.
