Abstract

The objective of this studies were the investigations of the natural transformation pathways of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene in surface water on a former ammunition plant. The microbial and photochemical transformation processes could be distinguished in laboratory experiments and the transformation products has been identified by 15N-labeling with high resolution mass spectrometry. The transformation processes in the environment could be simulated and the potential of natural attenuation could be estimated.
