Abstract

The present thesis examines the life and works of Hans Paul Kaufmann (1889–1971). In order to analyse and fully appreciate the various stages of his life, his academic and political activity, his research and his personality, the extensive private archive of Kaufmann’s grandchild, university and state archives, printed sources as well as oral history were consulted.
