Abstract

With the completion of the human genome sequence the systematic determination of gene function in mammals became the major challenge. Mouse mutant lines are predestinated for the analysis of the correlations between genotype and respective phenotype. The German Mouseclinic offers a detailed examination of mouse mutants using a broad standardised phenotypic check-up. Within this setup the metabolic screen performs a comprehensive analysis of bioenergetics in mouse mutants. The aim of this dissertation was the evaluation of the phenotyping data of six inbred and 80 mouse mutant lines, the analysis of the suitability of a chronic or akute food restriction as a challenge experiment, and the comprehensive metabolic phenotyping of the mouse mutant line HWE007.
