Abstract

Emotion and motivation are discussed as interdependend constructs. In this work the influences of situations as well as the influences of personality dimensions on emotion and motivation were investigated. Based on the model of the anterior activation asymmetry of emotion and motivation and the affective style hypothesis of RJ Davidson we examined 157 soccer players. Varying emotion and motivation in an imagination task moderator effects of the behavioral activation system (according to Gray) were observed. Main result is the control of action inhibition by the behavioral activation system.
