Erforschung des Wissens und der Einstellung zur Nutzung von Hörgeräten bei Erwachsenen mit und ohne Hörminderung: eine quantitative Validierungsstudie
Abstract
This study investigates attitudes toward hearing aids and their correlation to the intention to use them among adults with and without hearing impairment. The aim was to develop and validate a standardized questionnaire to assess psychosocial and care-related factors influencing hearing aid uptake. The questionnaire comprises 21 items each on attitudes and intention to use, covering six categories: cost, stigma, aesthetics and visibility, social influence, expected benefits and effort, and trust in physicians and the healthcare system. Following a pilot test, the instrument was administered to 159 adult patients at an academic ENT outpatient clinic. The results indicate that psychosocial factors and expectations, in particular, are relevant to the acceptance of and intention to use hearing aids. The questionnaire therefore provides a basis for further research into the causes of underuse and for optimizing hearing aid uptake.
