Abstract

A cumulative thesis including an introduction into the properties and uses of phthalocyanines and a compilation of phthalocyanine related publications. Publications include a study on the synthesis and electronic properties of phthalocyanine-thiocatecholate conjugates, the synthesis of phthalocyanine silicon complexes, the synthesis of an asymmetric zinc phthalocyanine with a thioalcohol group for forming self-assembled monolayers on gold surfaces, imido-chromium and imido-vanadium phthalocyanine complexes and the fluorescence quenching studies of perylene diimides and dihydrazines.
