The aim of the present study was to investigate differences in the long-term outcome of patients who received the diagnosis of Asperger’s-Syndrome and of patients with other autism spectrum disorders. Therefore the long-term outcome of patients of the department of child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Marburg was evaluated. Patients with the diagnosis of Asperger’s-Syndrome showed a higher IQ, had a higher body weight and had more special interests. The long-term evaluation showed that social interaction of patients with Asperger’s-Syndrome improved slightly but not significant. There were many interindividual differences according to long-term outcome.
