Abstract
A new reaction mechanism, responsible for the formation of chromophoric groups in lignin, has been identified during the lightinduced brightness reversion of wood and TMP pulp. The photolability of acetylated surfaces has been demonstrated on lignin model compounds. A new protection method for wood and TMP pulp surfaces has been developed in order to inhibit the lightinduced yellowing.
