This doctoral thesis deals with the synthesis, characterisation and application of novel, task-specific ionic liquids (TSILs), especially of those containing monovalent copper or silver. The copper catalysed oxidative carbonylation of methanol to dimethyl carbonate, paraffin/olefin separations as well as the CO2 absorption were chosen as fields of application.
