Abstract

The work deals with different aspects of the chemistry of pentafluorophenylamides. The applicability of these weakly basic N-donors both for the design of strongly Lewis acidic metal complexes and for the use as anions in ionic liquids. Thereby both bis(pentafluorophenyl)amide and a ligand derived from bisnephthylamide were used to generate complex compounds containing metal cations of the rare earth metals. Some of these compounds were tested in the ring opening polymerisation of epsilon-caprolactone. Furthermore a series of hydrophobic ionic liquids were synthesized containing pentafluorophenylamidoanions.
