Abstract

The occurance of CD34 positive fibrocytes and the their loss in tumor-associated stroma of malignant tissue changes has been shown for many different organs. The present work completes this presentation for postmenopausal human ovaries. Parrafinated microtom slices of tissue samples where dyed with immunhistochemical standard method to show the local spreading of cell-associated antigens (CD 34, alphasmooth muscle actin, TGF-beta receptor and SPARC). The results were evaluated by microscope. The healthy ovarian stroma shows in comparison to tissue from other organs less presence of CD 34 positive fibrocytes, which restricts the following result. In comparison to former investigations is there also a loss of CD34 positive fibrocytes in the tumor-associated stroma of malignant ovarian tissue changes (squamous and papillary-serous ovarian cancer) combined with a rise of alpha-SMA. The cellular deadhaesion, which is hypothetically important for invasive process of malignant tissue changes, can be shown also by a rise of alpha-SMA on edematous papillary tissue regions.
