Abstract

In this work, tablets made from paper were first produced and characterized as an oral dosage form for smartFilms out of conventional types of paper. For the determination of the optimal paper basis for the tablet production, tablets were systematically examined for their pharmaceutical quality according to the Pharm. Eur. and their ability to amorphously stabilize drugs. In order to ensure the large-scale production of tablets made from paper, both pellets and paper powders were prepared and their suitability to amorphously stabilize a poorly soluble active substance was investigated in a proof of concept study.
