There have been studies of the correlation of the fluorescence signal of with GFP and DsRed labeled melanoma cell tumors with MRI volumetry in a mouse model. Fluorescence intensities and areas of fluorescence signals were determined and evaluated. The experiments were conducted as follow-up examinations over a period of 3 months and observed the growth of tumors in this period. The course showed a linear correlation of both the fluorescence intensities and the measured fluorescence areas with the MRI volumetry at the majority of the study period. With increasing tumor growth, the curve of the fluorescence intensities developed in the sense of saturation.
