Abstract

Comamonas t. 3-alpha-hydroxysteroiddehydrogenase is a key enzym in the degradation of steroid compounds in soil, and may there´fore play a signifikant role in the bioremediation of hormornally active substances in the environment.Our results demonstrate that a cis-regulating stem-loop operator system is an important determinant in the regulation of the 3-alpha HSD gene in Comamonas testosteroni.
