Abstract

As a part of the innate immune system antimicrobial peptides are secreted in the airway fluids of the human lung. LL-37 and hBD-2 are mainly represented in the lung. In case of a comunity aquired pneumonia secretion is elevated significantly. Furthermore there are significant correlations mit clinical, microbiological and serological parameters.
