The dissertation provides a detailed overview of fragility fractures of the pelvis (FFP),
which are commonly seen in older adults with osteoporosis. Osteoporotic fractures
have been increasing in incidence over the years, and typically result from low-energy
trauma, such as a fall from standing height. Various risk factors contribute to the devel-
opment of these fractures, including poor bone quality, reduced physical activity, poor
nutrition, coexisting medical conditions, and lifestyle factors such as smoking and alco-
hol consumption.
