Abstract
Using the DSpace repositories at Philipps University Marburg as a case study, this article discusses the key challenges, potential solutions, and pitfalls associated with combating bots. Bernd Nicklas and Max Gerlings provide a brief introduction to the general issues and to "Anubis" — the open-source solution used at Philipps University — which can be integrated into DSpace or other web applications with manageable effort and successful results. The presentation took place as part of DSpace User Conference 2026 in Lüneburg.
