Which diagnostic competence model could serve as a theoretical foundation of the cognitive performances being issued in a diagnosis? This article tries to answer the question by virtue of social and cognitive theoretic expertise. First and foremost, the model is supposed to provide a framework for assessing partial competencies of diagnosis at the macro and micro level that are closely connected to the logics of social realities. Empirical tools which match the theoretical model will be discussed in the next chapter.
