Abstract

After a brief explanation of the term "research paradigm", an overview of the most important approaches in psychological peace research is given. The presentation follows the distinction between nomothetically oriented and interpretative approaches, to which quantitative and qualitative methods can be assigned on a research-practical level. Under these main paradigmatic directions, various research designs and their respective research logics are presented. The discussion of the possibilities and limitations as well as the research-ethical challenges of these designs with regard to peace-psychological statements is exemplified by brief presentations of classic and recent studies from basic and applied research. Mixed methods approaches are also briefly discussed.
