Hartmut Esser’s integrative social theory – Potentials of explanation and understanding
The article provides an introduction of the integrative social theory of Hartmut Esser. Herewith, Esser intends to overcome the fragmentation of sociology into different paradigms. The “model of sociological explanation” serves as the central instrument for achieving this integrative project. It provides the framework for understanding and explaining the processing of social aggregation dynamics.
