Abstract

The Philipps University of Marburg is currently developing a concept for the digital presentation of its scientific collections. A project funded by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture (HMWK) as part of the HeFDI state initiative aims to adapt database management systems to integrate scientific collections. In addition to the conception and implementation of a long-term sustainable database, the project's task is to pilot the digitization of collections at the Philipps University. The project's progress is documented on the project website (https://uni-marburg.de/DFpFGf). The following statements are part of project publications that gradually provide information on the progress and results and are made available via the publication server of the Marburg University Library. This publication deals with the topic of metadata for collection repositories. On the one hand, it consists of a market analysis of exchange formats to be used, data models, the use of controlled vocabularies and standard data. On the other hand, the collections of the Philipps University of Marburg are proposed to use a common metadata schema, which should be used in the implementation of a cross-collection object portal.
