The essay takes the theoretical concepts of cultural theorist Martin Scharfe as the starting point of a "symptomatology" of politically motivated suicide bombings of the current Da'esh-mouvement in western areas. For this purpose, different approaches are explored: the concept of culture and its complications, terrorism research and anthropology of killing, the contemporary historical constellations as backplot to the actors within the context of decolonisations side effects determining their residential biographies and social situations in the urban suburbs. The interplay of these approaches aims at differentiating the current discourse about "culturalization of terror" and contributes to the politicization of cultural analysis in Cultural Anthropology.
